In Fall 2009, the Center had introduced a teen girl program called Girl Talk that ran semi-informally. For Spring 2010, we’ve got big plans coming, with a bit of program re-tooling.
WHAT IS GIRL TALK / Girl Talk is a teen girls group that gives a space to talk about the different issues we face every day and to find constructive ways to deal with them. We strive to make connections, expand our interests, and do more with what we’ve got so we can do what we want.
WHAT WE DO / We have guest speakers, discussions, charity/fundraising projects, movie nights, and field trips. For Girl Talk 2010, we are planning on having guest speakers from Gay & Lesbian Youth Services (GLYS), Buffalo Jills (Buffalo Bills cheerleaders), and Kids Escaping Drugs.
WHAT WE DISCUSS / Trust, relationships, sex, drugs, alcohol, career planning, families, schools, and more.
WHEN WE MEET / Thursday, 6pm to 7:30pm at the Center.
Girl Talk is appropriate for girls between the ages of 14 and 20 who want to do more in their community, meet more people, and find ways to deal with the tough stuff in their lives. If you are interested, you must sign up by February 12th! The size of the group is limited, so come in and Janice about it today.
